Candlelights

How imprecise
the passing of time!
How absurd
the distribution of hours!
For some
those running in the fast lane
they go slow and steady.
For others
 those  expecting nothing from life
they flew away
 like a flock of sparrows
in a tic of the moment.

As for me
 a nobody
(Some kind of mirage
in the desert)
who doesn’t know how to count
grains in an hour glass
time comes
and goes
as it pleases
in waves of light-water
spiraling stardust.

I raise my hand and touch
the myriads of candlelights
floating
over my head
under my liquid
 body.

I open my mouth and swallow
the sleepy hours.
